Here we have a super Rare WW2 British Little John ‘Squeeze bore 37mm round dated 1943.
This round is in very good condition for its age the shell case is dated 1943.
These were used in the Littlejohn adaptor, a device used with the British QF 2-pounder anti-tank gun during World War 2. This adaptor utilised the "squeeze bore" principle, where a tapered section of the barrel compressed the projectile, increasing its velocity.
- The design was inspired by the work of Czech engineer František Janeček, whose name was anglicized to "Littlejohn".
- The adaptor was primarily used by armored car units as the 2-pounder was being replaced by the 6-pounder in other role
- The adaptor could be removed to allow the gun to fire standard ammunition.
Only 67 littlejohn adapters were ever made and saw action in The Ardennes and North Africa. So the rounds hardly ever come onto the open markets.
