WW1 1914 French Barbeles Petard HE (barbed wire destruction) is a scarce and interesting grenade from the early period of experimentation in WWI.
It is in super original condition with no cracks or brakes and is complete with its string pull.
It is a cylinder made with a rolled steel plate, plugged at the top with a wooden block, and at the base with a wooden stick . This stick is hollow, for a traction igniter setting fire to a powder line cord (giving a 5 seconds delay), linked to the detonators. These caused the explosion of the 400 grams of Cheddite charge, confined in the steel cylinder.
This item is from the personal collection of Mills Grenade author John Bailey.
All inert Ordnance sold by Vigo Militaria and Collectables are inert and Free From Explosives (FFE).
