WW2 SOE, Escape and Evasion Domino Set with double sided concealed Compass and Hacksaw blade, Escape flag of Normandy and the South of France and Bay of Biscay.
Here’s something very special and super rare.
This WW2 SOE, Escape and Evasion Domino Set with double sided concealed Compass and Hacksaw blade, Escape flag of Normandy and the South of France and Bay of Biscay.
These boxed domino sets were sent to Allied POWs within their Red Cross parcels to aid escape and evasion. The box has a false bottom, under which contains a compass, a hacksaw blade and a silk escape map, in this case a very rare Normandy map on one side and a map of South of France and Bay of Biscay on the other, these were common escape routes.
The box is made by and marked R. Turner Ltd. and dated 1940. R. Turner Ltd. made board and boxed games from the 1930’s to the 1950’s.
The box contains 28 white domino’s which is the correct amount. The box is made of hardwood and has stamps on the inside lid and base which look to be Red Cross stamps. The box is in super condition with no cracks. The false bottom is also made of wood. The map, compass and hacksaw blade are in excellent condition, the blade still has its protective paper and has a little surface rust. The map has a couple of marks where it’s sat in the box for over 80 years which leads us to believe it’s never been used.
A stunning item in fantastic condition.
